How Semja handles your data

Semja ("we") is a communication-intelligence app that helps you understand how you and the people around you communicate. The data controller for your personal data is SEMJA, reachable at hello@patrickolsen.tech.

This policy explains — in plain language — what data we hold about you, where it lives, who can see it, how our AI uses it, and the rights you have over it.

Account data: your name and email address, used to sign you in and send you service emails.

Test data: your answers and results from the assessments you choose to take (personality, attachment, motivation, and work-style perspectives).

Your own words: notes you write about yourself ("Your Voice"), your ratings of how well results fit you, and messages or notes you post in shared spaces.

Generated insights: AI-written syntheses, daily tips, and relationship maps derived from the data above.

We do not collect data about you from other sources, we do not track you across other websites, and we never sell your data.

Your data is stored in Semja's hosted backend, provided by the Base44 platform, on secured cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit.

Every personal record is protected by row-level access rules: it can only be read, changed, or deleted by the account that created it.

You: your test results, notes, ratings, and insights are visible only to you.

People you share with: in a shared "Together" space, other members see only the summary labels you explicitly turn on sharing for (for example, "Secure"). Your detailed scores and private notes are never shown to anyone else.

App administrators: can see the list of registered users (name and email) and manage shared spaces, but do not have a view into your individual test results or personal notes in the app.

The hosting platform (Base44) processes and stores data on our behalf as a data processor.

When you talk to Semja, it reads only your own records — automatically scoped to your account — to give you personal answers. It has no ability to email, export, or publish your data.

To generate insights, relevant parts of your data are sent as a prompt to a large-language-model provider. These prompts are used only to produce your answer — your data is not used to train AI models.

In shared spaces, the AI only sees the summary labels each member has actively consented to share. If you haven't turned on sharing, the AI knows nothing about you in that space.

Sharing is always opt-in, per space and per perspective. You choose exactly which perspectives are included, and you can turn sharing off at any time.

When you leave a space (or delete your account), your membership is closed, your shared labels are removed, and cached group insights are regenerated so they no longer contain your data.

We send transactional emails (invites, reminders, confirmations) via Gmail from hello@patrickolsen.tech. Your email address is used solely for these service messages.

We use no advertising networks, no analytics profiling of your personality data, and no data brokers.

We keep your data for as long as you have an account, so your Semja can grow with you over time.

When you delete data or close your account, it is permanently removed from our backend — not just hidden.

Access: see everything we hold about you in the "Your data & privacy" area of the app.

Rectification: retake any test or edit your notes at any time.

Erasure: delete individual results, whole categories of data, or everything including your account — directly in the app, no email required. Backend records are removed immediately.

Portability & other rights: for a copy of your data, or to exercise any other GDPR right (restriction, objection, complaint to a supervisory authority), contact us at hello@patrickolsen.tech and we will respond within 30 days.

Signed-in users can open "Your data & privacy" (from My Semja) and delete data step by step: single test results, syntheses and voice notes, calibration ratings, daily insights, leaving all shared spaces — or everything at once, which also closes the account.

Full deletion also removes your messages and notes from shared spaces and regenerates any group insights so nothing derived from your data remains.
